Indeed and to be honest with you, that’s why I am skeptical of many Southern evangelicals who claim to love Israel. I mean the doomsday crap I think is bad enough but you can’t forget what happened to people like Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner. Scary to think that wasn’t even 50 years ago. Jews were and to a degree still are portrayed in this country as the driving force behind left wing movements. Anti-Communism(and leftism as a whole) in this country always had a very not so subtle Anti-Semitic edge to it.

Even so, there is a long history of Jewish settlement in the South, many did find a home and established communities.
