And all it takes is one bad year to change your fortunes. A guy who was a year behind me in high school was a top prospect at Villanova. Had he left after his junior year, he would have been a top 10 pick likely but he stayed for his senior year and wasn’t even drafted and spent the past 8 years playing around Europe. And you know if he’s happy, good for him but I doubt it’s the life he thought he would have. I don’t know what he got his degree in but I’m glad he got it.

He obviously won’t make the millions he could’ve gotten in the NBA, but there is still pretty good money in playing professionally in Europe, and there are worst fates for a young man than getting to spend a few years in Europe making money. Like ending up back home without a job or a degree.
