McMahon took WWE public and raised a bunch of money (McMahon’s greatest “work”, IMO), but remained a dominant, majority shareholder (him and his family’s trust.) Over the years McMahon made sure that WWE paid dividends (much of which went to him) that some thought were too generous, because WWE was left with diminished cash on hand.

It’s with these millions that he worked his deal with Trump.
