you’re right. politics is learned the same way religion is.

Politics doesn’t have to be religious.

If for some reason the Democratic Party started promoting racism or defending sex criminals for example, I’d be gone.

I arrived at my position through reasoning out what the parties had done before the first time I cast a vote.

GOP: Be careful what you wish for, because Bill Clinton might be entangled in crime with Jeffery Epstein.

Dems: If the evidence shows Bill Clinton should be dragged into court over Jeffery Epstein, drag his ass into court.

GOP: I don’t understand.

Dems: Exactly.

For a conservative, they must win. They must defend the indefensible or irrational or unsupported, which is what makes conservatism a religion. It is why they go on the attack when someone realises that the GOP does not reflect their values and leaves.

For all the attacks over the years Justin Amash made on liberals, his decision to leave the GOP over overt racism has caused him to receive hate mail, death threats, calls of a RINO (apostasy).
