re: #284 A Mom Anon

I’m trying to understand the point of the photo. So the woman in the pic is buying stuff at a 7 Eleven and that’s somehow a snapshot of better times? Or is it how she’s dressed? I don’t get it. And she surely could not have had a credit card or buy a car on her own, let alone a house. I remember my Mom being super pissed about the latter when I was a kid. She and two friends had a little shop where they sold handmade crafty things that they and other women made. They all had to get “permission” to do that from their husbands, who had to sign the store space lease along with them. These were all working middle class families with modest but nice houses in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. Mom went to buy a car by herself and no dealership would deal with her, my dad had to sign the paperwork so she could drive the car home even though all the money for it came from the store that she and her friends ran.

And even after all that crap, my Mom has remained a staunch conservative her whole life. Sigh.

You have to think like a conservative to understand it.

The fact she could not get credit in her own name is a plus. She is supposed to be a slave to her father, then her husband.

Very long hair. Thin. Makeup.

An owned woman is the conservative or libertarian ideal. Remember, she is only supposed to be an “earthen vessel” (Madison Cawthorn—Treepuncher)
