I am sure he is a very nice young man, but he seems to have a very simplistic, or at least simple, faith. He figures there is a simple formula you could do, and presto! you’d be on the list for heaven.

My faith is complex, and people are complex, and only God knows what is in each person’s heart. For me to judge other people and assume they are going to hell based on my own imperfect human senses is just nonsense. Judge not, in other words. Unfortunately, I am not sure I could explain that to the young fellow without hurting him or making him angry.
