re: #307 wozzablog

Am talking about going 30 years back when the government decided to sell off and start dismantling the postal service, the public transport services and many other sectors that were stable employers for young people.
They were given over to the private sector who slashed pay and benefits, reduced levels of service and saw employees as disposable rather than as valuable capital.

Many industries are being held together by staff on temp cntracts or short term deals - they won’t turn them into full time positions because they would need to pay extra.

The economic model is broken. Short termism is the wrong way.

And coming forward to today - you can not grown private enterprise without capital - these kids have access to none. There is no market for products the economy is stagnant, new stuff is not being bought.

Then there’s nothing to do but beat them down till things start going up again. Britain can’t go back to the failures of the 1970’s, neither can the US. It’s either Free Market or bust. To quote Lady Thatcher “There is no alternative.”
