Not really. It’s relatively new, but remember how Peter Thiel financed Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker? I’m pretty sure his reimbursement terms were more than a simple payback of legal fees, that he got a percentage of Hogan’s award too.
The problem in Chuck’s case is that any suit he files is both weak and hypothetically susceptible to a civil rights based counter suit, meaning his investors could also be signing up for the risk of vicarious liability and stand to lose more than just their investment.
