Food companies used to send samples in the mail. This included pet food companies. One time we got a package of these new-fangled dog chewies. My mother fed our dog a few, he seemed to like them, so she put them in the fridge. The next day, I came home from school, fed the dog his regular grub and decided to add some of the chewie treats. I discovered the bag empty. My sister (age 4) explained that our brother Doug and his friend Mark (both age 8) had come in earlier and eaten them all. “I told them not to,” she said.
