Damn. Woke up and read the news about John McCain. Say what you will about the man, but he has led a hell of a life. Offered an early release by the North Vietnamese because his dad was CINCPAC, he refused unless all POWs were released with him. They were not pleased and routinely tied his hands behind his back, ran a rope between them, and hung him from a meat hook, dislocating both shoulders, and left him there. For hours.

The man has balls like grapefruits. A true American hero.

The revelation that he has a glioblastoma is pretty much an early death sentence. It’s the same brain cancer that killed Ted Kennedy. It’s a harsh thing to discover that you have less than eighteen months to live, tops. My condolences to his family and his multitude of friends.

You will find no snark about my “concern” for his condition, and I have scorn for anyone who would lower themselves to be that petty. He’s going to Arlington with the caisson, the “lost man” three-jet flyover, and a twenty-one gun salute.
