At the bottom of this is that there’s really no ideology, just incoherent individual beliefs that orbit a base assumption that their emotional impressions are “true.”

Arguments and ideas are being used, piece-meal, to justify what they want as they want it. Beliefs are discarded and picked up as needed.

Hence the proliferation of pseudoscience and the contempt of expertise.
