re: #308 Targetpractice

Better yet, let’s remember the fellow who coded MSDOS and how rich he became…oh, right, he didn’t become rich because a college dropout convinced IBM to buy the rights to 86-DOS, then rewrote it just enough to sell as his own product. That college dropout is Bill Gates, one of the richest men in America.

He also doesn’t whine about “OMG taxes taking all my money!” His answer to the concern that government might spend the money badly is… to give it all away and make sure it’s spent wisely before the tax people have a change to get at it. His children will inherit less than one-tenth of one percent of his wealth.

The 2nd richest man in America, Warren Buffet, didn’t want to spend the time and energy figuring out good programs and doing the distribution — so he’s just giving 99.95% of his moneyl to Gates to give away for him.

(contraceptives for everybody in the world, everywhere! eradicate Malaria! and just this month Gates decided to get into R&D for non-carbon energy sources, I think Elon Musk talked him into that one).
