I guess there’s no way to criticize the imbecile about to be in charge of the country without calling him names, then. I think a lot of folks were expecting Obama to be with them and at least address the fear in the country right now and the doubt surrounding the election. What happened was he just looked and sounded so checked out. A lot of talk about faith in institutions that to many people are ready to collapse next month. In between a cavalier attitude about how the Russians can’t change us the only time he veered away from being on complete diplomat autopilot was the expression of disappointment and almost exhaustion in his voice when he said that voting matters, and when he said Trump has made it very clear what’s important to him, and when he reminded us again of what his admin has done. I thought it was clear at that moment that he felt let down. So it was just pretty depressing to see that yeah, in fact, there is nothing that can be done before the inauguration

Sorry, going to totally disagree. I didn’t see a “checked-out” Obama. What I saw was a man who was still President and has a fundamentally optimistic opinion of the capacity of the American people. And if we on the left throw that out and ask for our own strongman to fix all the problems by running roughshod over our institutions, well, that’s as much the end of the experiment.
