I’m sorry, what world are these idiots living in?

Their own heads. A while back I was interviewed on the radio about biotech and specifically heritable gene editing in humans (which I oppose: “therapy good, designer babies bad” is the cartoon shorter). I had no idea what to expect but I’d just published something, so I said yes. Turned out that the host was a survivalist, hugely skeptical of big government and big industry and big science so I had an easy time just being factual. But all, and I mean all, the ads were for this kind of stuff. And guns. And ammo. And storage. And solar-powered fridges. And warm clothes. There’s evidently a huuuuge market out there.
