You can’t respond to intermediate range weapons. That’s why the needed to be banned. Had Trump properly handled Russian violations, he wuold have imposed more sanctions.

I agree with you that the best way (from the US perspective) is to address INF violations beforehand by sanctions.

It seems to me that Trump has been saying that the US would not respond to intermediate range missiles if they are launched at Europe.

As I understand it, the US position by treaty, currently (what Trump is trying to change), is that if Intermediate range missiles are launched at us, or NATO, we _will_ respond. All the way up, and including, with nuclear weapons.

And, again, I agree, it is far easier to respond to intermediate range missiles before they are launched, or deployed.
