The controversy about Ibuprofen and Covid-19 reminds me how much medicine is still an art as much as it is a science, with different cultural spheres. In fact the advice against Ibuprofen is pretty much rooted in the French medical culture: French doctor NEVER prescribe Ibuprofen when they suspect a viral infection. The idea being that fever is part of the body’s first line of defense against viruses, and that it is better to let it run its course so that the illness does not move to the next stage. Is this true? Well it’s probably a matter of culture, and other medical cultures feel differently.
More date would be needed to know is there is an effect regarding the evolution of Covid-19. In the meantime, I will follow the advice of French doctors if I feel sick, knowing that it might just be a cultural thing… Not that I use any kind of painkillers anyways - maybe about one or two pills of paracetamol/acetaminophen a year…
