Obama will be remembered as the last American President that personified the era of 20th Century Statesmanship. Replacing statesmanship and international institutions with their notions of formality, nuance, planning, and documentation is a new era of blowhard, off-the-cuff, handshake deals conducted by abjectly unapologetic con-men. The new technologies of Twitter and You Tube have created an environment where civility is just too boring. Welcome to the era of Trump/Putin/Xi/Kim. Welcome to the 21st Century.

You get it. Most posters here are defending a liberal vision that is as dead as vaudeville. The Democrats’ job now is to grimly and determinedly defend as much as they can. Dreams are for another day.
