I just…man. I’ve been in this country for almost 11 years now and I still find U.S. election cycles so freaking exhausting and drawn out. In Canada, if an election gets called, the vote MUST be held within 120 days. There’s none of this endless campaigning crap I see all the time in American politics.

It’s a consequence of having fixed elections. And as much as I hate the drawn out period - I think it can be fixed with some fixes to campaign financing - the flip side is what we’re seeing in England: The government controlling elections means one party can completely ignore them if they’re scared of the result.
