The problem with 501(c)(3) charities is that so many of them have nothing to do with any actual charity. For example ALEC the lobbyist group that writes right wing legislation for the GOP to introduce is a “charitable” organization. So is Heartland Institute, the firm from Chicago that is making cimate denial curricullum for public schools. So is ProEnglish, the ones who sponsored a white supremacist to speak at a forum at CPAC.

This is not rich people giving to charity. This is rich people essentially cheating on their taxes, hiring lobbyists who pose as charitable tax-exempt organizations so they can claim it as a tax deduction.
