Are you still worried about the missile gap too?

This isn’t 1960. Just what do you know that naval commanders don’t? Do we really need to spend 10 times what any other country spends on our military?

Our naval commanders have made clear we need those subs. There’s waste elsewhere, but not in numbers of submarines.

And we need more than other nations because we’ve got more responsibilities than other nations. And given that 20 percent of our sub fleet is in dockyard hands at most times, we need to have about 35% more subs in total than the number we need active at any given time.
