I can kinda see the logic behind the inaction. Like any Internet forum - including this one - taking an active hand in moderation of content implies responsibility for that content. And while on a blog of this size, Charles, Stinky, and the crew of handy-dandy moderators are capable of assuming that responsibility, I somehow doubt that Twitter wants to open themselves to liability if they miss picking up on actionable content. With all that out of the way, it’s pretty clear that the reporting mechanisms Twitter has built are either absolutely inadequate to the task, or being deliberately ignored in favor of lazy inaction. We all suspect the latter, but the only way to know for sure would be to get an insider report. What I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall at an internal Twitter staff meeting.
