Oh no doubt, I mean I just cannot tell what’s a Russian bot talking point and what’s a Trump one? So much of our political history is being revised slowly before our eyes. It’s why I’m glad that we’re documenting a lot of this on video and on record because no matter what happens this fall, life will go on. It’s just a matter of how. As I said, I’m actually optimistic about beating Trump, I know you disagree and I respectfully do so but where I’m far more cynical is the healing process. Maybe that’s Biden’s end game after all. He really wants to expose by showing good will and faith just how awful the Republicans and right are? I don’t know.

Again, at this point? There’s functionally no difference.

And as far as trying to expose GOP bad faith by showing good will and faith? Sorry, it simply doesn’t work that way. Playing a soft hand and appealing to the better angels of a group that has gotten its unfettered power through unlimited bad faith is kind of exactly how we got to where we are to begin with. Obama tried to reach across the aisle constantly and had those attempts hung around his neck like an albatross time and time again. The GOP has gotten away with so much false equivalence because of the assumption of good faith on their part while they poison the well over and over again. The continued assumption of good faith on their part is just going to send the message that they can still do whatever they want with impunity and get the benefit of the doubt, all while casting aspersions on Dems and having said aspersions taken as gospel truth.

The fact that he’s seeing this in real time with the Hunter/Burisma bullshit and still makes this appeal sends the message to me that he’s far too nostalgic to do what needs to be done against the GOP at this point.
