re: #29 Targetpractice

The same thing we’re going to see more and more in coming decades: Governments finally getting around to addressing ecological crises running right up against the assholes who’ve kept government from doing until there were crises that needed to be addressed.

In this case, the government decided that there needs to be a drastic reduction in nitrogen compound emissions and so have ordered a 30% reduction in the use of animal feeds that promote such and the usage of nitrogen-based fertilizers. The predictable response from farmers is that they can’t be as productive unless they can pollute freely and screaming that the government’s trying to ruin them.

That as well. What’s irritating is that the farmers could make money off of the chicken guano that they now pollute the environment with. Like, the Russo-Ukrainan war has throttled fertilizer supply, and I believe that with a little help of Uni researchers (did I mention that the Netherlands has several nice ones?) they could come up with a process to use chicken guano as a raw material for domestically produced fertilizer.

It’s one of the facets which make be believe this may be astroturfed or some other shenanigans going on.
