Well, in this case it’s not about the gun as such. It’s just probabilistically true that the guy with the gun is more likely to win. But if the other guy throws a knife at him, or if the gun misfires and meanwhile the opponent creatively uses a machete to carve him a new figure, they would still come under SYG protection, despite using other kinds of deadly force.
