My grandmother had on of those. She refused to let any of us kids in the kitchen when it was in use. She would take it down to the church kitchen at the start of every canning season and have it tested, but still considered them to be too dangerous to use around kids. Those things are killers if not treated with the upmost respect.
This particular pressure cooker is not the typical kind you see in the USA. It looks very much like a flat pan with a locking lid.
We do have a “standard” pressure cooker as well, along with a pressure canner for harvest season.
