Honestly? It will boil down to one of a very few things:
* Trump fires a wide swath of Republicans that are popular within the establishment, making other Republicans fear for their power;
* Trump nukes somebody and happens to blow up a factory/business that is owned by a major GOP benefactor;
* A right-wing Trump-humper assassinates one or more Republican senators and/or congresscritters, claiming that they are holding back the Dear Leader from doing his God-given job.Honestly, if it isn’t a direct impact to the GOP’s ability to maintain power, they won’t care. He wasn’t wrong when he said he could shoot somebody in broad daylight and they’d still love him.
A real blue wave vs. the GOP in this year’s midterms would also do it.
