You are absolutely right. His statement is ridiculous on its face — She would not have thought to report it to the police in any case since she managed to escape physical (not psychological) harm because Kavanaugh was too drunk. Girls often thought they were the ones to blame when attacked, especially in cases like this, where they were attending an underage drinking party without their parents’ knowledge or approval.

I can be overly pedantic — I was not excusing Trump but was wondering if it was some other deplorable on the team (Stephen Miller e.g.) who was responsible for the text itself.
