I read the report. I thought it was poorly written and not ready for release.

If right wing extremism is important to the feds they would start isolating prison populations into solitary confinements. Interaction would only be with prison officials.

1) it wasn’t released; it was leaked.
2) Your local TV station does sound like it did a disservice.
3) My understanding is that they’re trying very hard, especially with members of the Aryan Nation (or whatever the main white supremacist prison gang is, I don’t remember— WAR?— to keep the gang leaders isolated and in confinement, but the problem is widespread and endemic.

I read a very scary article about (3) a couple of years ago; I’ll see if it’s online. It was all about the birth of the white supremacist prison gang movement out in Bakersfield in the 70’s or so and its takeover of the prison environment. Transfering the members of the original gang just helped the gang spread into other prisons; the members immediately started new cells (ha) and recruited new members. Thus we have the current situation.
