Indeed. A Muslim friend of mine, she’s a bit more “traditional”, if you will (not conservative, just mildly old-fashioned in certain regards) found it hard to believe I support SSM. I told her, look…..the world isn’t the same anymore. Societies change, and we can either adapt or perish. Just because SSM exists certainly doesn’t mean it’s now mandatory. It’s between them and God. And as Jesus (a.s.) once said, “Judge not lest ye be judged” and “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”. And, I concluded, in America, everyone, and that means EVERYONE, is equal before the law.

She understood my point of view. I don’t think she’s suddenly going to become an outspoken advocate of SSM anytime soon, but she now has a better understanding of the old adage, live and let live.
