They really have no clue what to do with The Donald. If he was a low-tier candidate, barely polling at all, they could ignore him and exclude him from the debates. But the guy’s leading the polls, he’s got very vocal supporters in the party base, and he’s got the money to go the distance without kissing any ass. And that’s what has got the GOP establishment in a total mess, because there’s no easy way to turn off the valve anymore, not when you’ve got a self-financed campaign that is wildly popular with the people who you can’t afford to have sit home on Election Day.
