I suspect the feds are aware of the powderkeg that could blow up if they bungle their response. As it is, these would-be revolutionaries have picked a really remote HQ for a potential standoff. Any reinforcements have only one access road, and approach overland is unlikely, given the terrain. In other words, these yokels have made it easy for the feds to seal them up and wait for them to give up.

Yeah, these fools didn’t think this out, at least in regard to their “HQ”, that’s for sure. Maybe they’re counting on other armed militia groups to come their aid and give them some backup, but as you pointed out, any would-be reinforcements have only one access road and the surrounding terrain would make it very difficult to approach Malheur station.

Apparently, contrary to Ammon Bundy’s assertions, there’s really only about 15 or so of these knuckleheads up there. Better to just seal the surrounding area, cut off the water and power, allow no supplies in or out, and wait them out. That being said, these types are usually somewhat prepared; I think it’s a safe bet to reckon they have MRE’s, potable water, propane canisters/propane stoves and fuel for generators to last them for some time.
