IIRC, Gregor Samsa turns into a vermin. Kafka never specifically says he becomes a cockroach, though Samsa is often depicted as one in illustrations. If you interpret “vermin” as “a kind of person we don’t want or like,” the story makes lots more sense.

In Trump’s view, Dreamers are vermin.
