It’s been an attempt to show that California is a hellhole as compared to say Alabama where people live around open sewage.

Why is homelessness in CA rising? Simple math:

Rate of population increase > rate of housing stock increase.

That is, people keep moving here. Wingnuts would have you believe that people are fleeing California because it’s so awful here, and so homelessness is rising. What’s wrong with that picture?
