I wish it were possible to satirize the over-the-top nostalgia, the unending news coverage, and the false patriotism that goes along with the whole Never Forget idea, without coming across like an uncaring asshole.

We used to laugh at tragedy (I still remember the “red button” jokes from the Challenger explosion). Then certain people decided we should be serious and somber. These are the same people that attempt to use the military as a shield against any criticism. Yes, I do view both of these as real attempts at reducing our freedoms.
