I mean, exercising your Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination is entirely legitimate. The president exercising that right can create a bit of a constitutional crisis, but he is still technically allowed to exercise it, as far as I know.

Trump’s problem is that he’s doing this as hamfistedly as he does everything else.

The problem I see is that he isn’t actually asserting his Fifth Amendment rights. He’s just refusing to answer some questions the basis that he doesn’t want to and on the raw assertion that as President he is somehow metaphysically incapable of committing obstruction of justice.
