This is a thought of mine in re: George H.W. Bush’s passing. The WWII generation is disappearing. We’re losing that flesh and blood connection to that ghastly chapter in human history. And I fear that humans’ memories are too short.

Thoughtful indeed. According to the National World War II Museum, 496,777 of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II were alive in 2018, though that number dwindles every day. The very last remaining super-centenarians among them will probably hang on until about 2035.
