Both Dietl and Nicole Malliotakis are awful candidates and awful people generally. Malliotakis is a SI politician who can’t help but misinform and lie about what role deBlasio has in running the MTA (the NYC mayor has no control; it’s operation is controlled by the Governor of NY, so any problems with the subway, failing infrastructure, are the Governor’s fault, not de Blasio).

She’s pandering to the Staten Island republicans who are an island unto themselves, and have no problem pushing the kind of claptrap that Dietl spewed either.

De Blasio isn’t a perfect candidate by any stretch; he’s got issues he needs to address regarding his ties to lobbyists, but he did succeed on his biggest campaign promises - universal pre-K. Crime continues dropping under de Blasio, and Malliotakis also cherry picks to claim that certain crimes have risen (they have, but the reporting has changed too - people are now more willing to come forward to make rape/sex assault allegations than just a few years ago).

Dietl is a fucking loon. A crackpot of the highest order.
