North Korea’s allies (China and Russia) might do so. China is pretty adamant they will defend the DPRK if it is attacked without provocation. Russia is also a somewhat lesser ally, and also shares a border with the DPRK.

If we launch even one nuke at North Korea in an attempt to hit hardened research facilities or whatnot, well, at least it will be quick for us here.

You guys are ridiculous. Russia’s not going to get themselves wiped out in order to defend North Korea. Russia’s hope is that North Korea destroys some of our major urban centers and reduces us to a 2nd rate power economically overnight. Our military will follow when we can no longer afford to flush 1 trillion dollars down the toilet designing our next generation weapon system that’s almost as good as the current one.

China’s most likely play is to hope NK takes out some of our bases in the Pacific and then to invade NK from the north to prevent a flood of refugees and maintain a buffer zone between itself and the South.

Both of the countries are served best by letting NK do whatever damage to the US that it can in any confrontation and then moving against NK to secure their interests. Their interest is not served by getting involved in a nuclear exchange with the US and having us plant big glowing mushrooms in their major cities and military bases.
