I’m old enough to remember when the GOP had ‘party of ideas’ as one of its talking points. They don’t even try any more.

Well, those ideas included the John Birch Society with Goldwater, Senator Joe McCarthy insisting the government was chock full of communists, Nixon’s Southern Strategy, Reagan’s dogwhistle to racists launching his campaign in Philadelphia, Miss., Geo. W. Bush launching a war against a country that did us no harm (Iraq).

They’re ideas. Not particularly good ones, but ideas.
