im in the middle of Breakup by Dana Stabenow, from the Kate Shugak series

i just read this and it seemed sort of apropos, as the women are speaking of men:

love it that they can make lifelong friends with another guy over a brand of beer or a game of basketball or the make of a pistol and never need to know another single thing about that person except that he drinks Full Sail Golden Ale or shoots a thirty-two percent average from the floor or owns a Colt Peacemaker

if / when we start to peel the onion and learn more about a person, we may be forced to face the question of what defines the relationship and is there an common ground anymore

has it changed, is there enough to hold it together, can we limit what we do and dont talk about, would it matter?
