For white America being called a racist is the worst thing to many of us because we think to be racist must mean you’re something like a Nazi or KKK member. That even to most of the most far right wing Americans is something you don’t want to be associated with but what we don’t do and this is where the media fails is comprehend the fact that racism isn’t just KKK/Nazi or not racist. It’s why I try to say that I’m not colorblind, I’m merely coloraware. I won’t ever say some cliche bs like I don’t see color. I do see color but what I try to see is the individual who is that color or comes from that other culture. White America doesn’t help any critiques about racism when we go “Why I can’t be racist, I have that black friend” or “I’m not racist, I love such and such athlete or musician or actor.” You have prejudices. We all do. It’s about not letting your prejudice get in the way of how you treat people. And that’s where Trump has failed big time.
