Whether your history here warrants this or not (most I’ve seen from you was lefty-baiting, but I haven’t been here long enough), kudos for these positions.

I think he does hold those positions. I think a lot of Conservative cultists, when you get down to it, actually have reasonable positions on a number of topics, including climate change and other sacred cows, when asked about them in isolation.

However, modern American Conservatism is a hate-based cult. And as such, it’s not really about issues, positions, or anything of that nature. It’s about hating the other guys, the liberals, the lefties, the Dems, those guys. It’s about finding the angle in any issue, any story, any event, to show how hateful and evil those guys, the enemy, are. And that’s what we see on FOX, on the net, on the blogs, on comments here - everything else is all well and good, but what really matters is hating lefties and Democrats. That’s why cultists still rationalise voting GOP, even though GOP policies are open about causing harm to Americans and the country, and even though the GOP hasn’t been fiscally conservative for decades - because it’s not really about anything except hating the enemy.
