I’m not sure what to think of this piece here in The Independent explaining why Western sympathy for St. Petersburg isn’t the same as it was for Paris or Nice.

I would also argue this: It’s relatively rare for any attack in Paris or Nice. It’s way more common for them to occur in Russia or the US. The west doesn’t get all worked up over attacks in the US unless they are truly large, like 9-11 and they’re not going to get worked up over every attack in Russia.
