That actually happened in Operation Overlord. I’m happy to report Pvt John Steele not only survived being a sitting duck and then escaped captivity and served out the remainder of the war and won a Bronze Star & Purple Heart. Hmmm two things past GOP conventions and nominees have belittled. There’s a tavern in Normandy named for him too.

Around these parts we consider him a local boy.
