I agree that the charges against the woman were overkill, but practically speaking I doubt the cultural bias is going to go away any time soon—it’s too deeply ingrained. There have been significant changes in the past 100 years or so, but I just don’t see the taboo on public nudity going away any time soon (and quite frankly, I wouldn’t want it to). I guess I’m just not that liberal.

I be happy if people would stop overreacting when they see a woman in the park take her top off, or a woman breast feeding her baby. Men walk around all the time without shirts and the reaction is far less extreme.

Charging somebody for that is stupid.

I would also be happy if people would stop promoting the idea that seeing breasts, or seeing a penis or hairy patch between the legs will somehow harm a child. It won’t. A parent’s overreaction is likely to screw up their kid’s attitude about the body though.
