Based on the Federalist Papers, I’m not entirely sure he wasn’t exactly the guy they had in mind.

You could possibly argue that the system set up does not handle everyone being able to vote (not just white male landowners). But what they failed to take into account was that there would ever be enough people that would not be opposed to a man under the influence of a foreign government.
