Sorry, going to totally disagree. I didn’t see a “checked-out” Obama. What I saw was a man who was still President and has a fundamentally optimistic opinion of the capacity of the American people. And if we on the left throw that out and ask for our own strongman to fix all the problems by running roughshod over our institutions, well, that’s as much the end of the experiment.

It’s true that it’s game over if the left joins the right in abandoning the institutions.

However, it remains to be seen if it is game over anyway. The nation cannot endure forever half-free and half-FauxNews. It must eventually become one or the other. Assuming the final failure of the GOP wrecking crew without sufficient evidence is obviously a fool’s errand.
