re: #326 Obdicut

Those transcripts are the most damning bit of evidence against the captain; he simply didn’t stay with the ship during the critical moments as the crew struggled to get passengers off the ship.

Tripping and falling into a lifeboat is his excuse for not being on the ship? That’s his excuse? That makes no sense whatsoever, and it again ignores that he could have returned to the ship to help with the rescue effort.

Then again, it is possible that despite the captains mistakes in guiding the ship as close as he did - causing the accident, his later actions to ground the ship may have saved some additional number of lives. We’ll have to wait for a full investigation and review of records to see what transpired.

Besides all the craziness with the captain, this particular disaster shows the need to better review disaster preparation/evacuation procedures on the ships - crews need to understand what to do and how to keep tabs of passengers and crews as they leave the ship.
