re: #320 Timothy Watson

Don’t know. I’m not particularly fond of Menendez. Met him once at a meet-greet and remember that I needed to count my fingers after the experience. There just seemed to be something I found off-putting.

Doesn’t mean that he engaged in criminal conduct, but I wouldn’t be shocked if the allegations are provable in a court of law either. He swears that the prosecutors are distorting a long-term friendship and claiming that there were favors swapped for benefits.

That all remains to be seen, but given that there are more than a few NJ politicians who have been on the take and have been put away, it wouldn’t surprise me if that happens with Menendez as well.

But that this is politically motivated to get him out of the way so that Obama can open up Cuba relations? If that were the case, don’t you think that Obama would have gone after top GOPers who were opposed? Or that Obama is playing 3d chess, and figures that if he gets an indictment on Menendez, that will get the GOPers who have opposed him to take notice that they too would be next?

You see, that’s how you get into conspiracy territory real quick. Occam’s Razor and all that - the simplest explanation is usually the one that describes the situation. And that’s why I think it has nothing to do with Menendez’s politics and everything to do with his actions re: Melgen.
