They didn’t really start that up ‘til after the oil crash in the 80s. I lived in the southeast corner of the state, not that far from Roswell, when I was a kid. We got our TV news from the Roswell TV stations. No one ever talked about that except as a “Tee hee, look at this crazy thing from way back when.”

Then the oil market went belly-up, and the Roswell economic board said, well, oil’s gone bust, could we do tourism? What on earth could we do tourism on from this dusty section of the state? And all at once, there got to be a lot more talk about the Strange Mystery of the UFO Crash. Who Covered It Up? What Alien Mysteries Did They Find? Here’s An Old Paranoid Dude To Wax Rhapsodic About Dead Aliens!

We got “The X-Files” out of it, eventually. We got the great “Delta Green” RPG, too. I guess that’s alright.
